My Accomplishments

Since I've been sick and have stayed home from work yesterday and today, I'm proud to say that I've accomplished more than in a couple of hours than I could have ever dreamed of doing at work. Besides napping, eating chimichangas, and consuming enough Echinacea to kill a 5-pound tumor, I've already aptly defeated two classic Nintendo games.



First, I thoroughly vanquished Count Dracula in "Castlevania". As you can see in the picture above, I even rubbed it in a little by demolishing a good portion of his castle on my way out after stomping a hole in Dracula's head. I would have finished the whole thing off, but I ran out of dynamite.


Next, I decided to go after an evil wizard in "Wizards and Warriors".



This game also provides for about an hour-and-a-half of raging 8-bit entertainment. I only have one qualm with it though, and that's the 'Cloak of Invisibility' that you pick up in one of the underground levels. Sounds like a cool item, huh? Maybe at first, but either it's defective somehow or all of the monsters in this game can see in infrared, because when you put it on they can still see you.


Here I am, you can clearly see me sporting my new cloak, not realizing that a bat is about to swoop on me from behind and kill me with a rabies infection:



And, this is my dead body, still invisible (although you can see my leg dangling over that rock):



That being said, if you ever play this game, you should avoid that thing just like princess Penelope at a frat party...



Penelope is like a doorknob... everybody gets a turn


Finally, after many distractions and countless urges to go to sleep, I defeated the wizard and scored the girl.



Now I'm off to take a nap before putting some more well-appropriated time into my Nintendo emulator.

Wow that is classic yo. I've never beaten any of those games. I like them a lot though, maybe I'll have to get sick and foam on them too. Keep foaming.

After all the time that has passed, things can get distorted and out of perspective. So on a day like this, 6 years to the day of the horrific attacks against the US, we need reminders. We should watch videos like this:

Fixing Dynamics GP Web Services

I'm not completely certain how our GP 10 server got to be in this state, but apparently the Web Services component was never really working properly. Of course, we didn't find out that this was the case until after I had cloned our live server so that we would have a second (identical) machine that our developers could use to test integration with our order management system... one of the developers finally went to use it and told me that the Web Services Exceptions Console was giving an error... specifically, when you drilled down in the console view: "Cannot access the exception service. Why I support Bernie Sanders

I was recently asked outright why it is that I support Senator Bernie Sanders for President.  My initial response was something like, "It's complicated.  I'll write a 10,000 word essay on my blog and then post a link".  So I went off and wrote a few detailed paragraphs about anti-corporatism and the Green New Deal and blah blah blah... after working on it for an hour or so, I realized that it didn't explain all of the different facets enough and that I'd have to come back to finish it later. Issues with FRx

At this point, I'm basically keeping this blog for my own notes. Last Friday, Finance ran into an issue with Microsoft FRx which basically prevented them from doing anything.  When attempting to login to Report Designer, they would see the message "OFSI Server is not Available". As it turns out, the source of the problem was the fact that, when you went into Company --> Information and looked at any of the companies, the only thing available under "Accounting System" was "FRx Demo General "Ledger". Although I wasn't completely sure how this happened, it seems that a setting in the FRx\SysData\ActSys32.mdb file was changed.  The line for "Great Plains - SQL Server\MSDE" was disabled and needed to be re-enabled.  Once that was saved, I was able to change the settings back to what they should have been in the Companies and have everything work properly.
